Inside CFI

Carter Fleming Investments (CFI) is an independent global partnership.

We focus solely on long-term investment in growth companies in the emerging markets. Funds advised by CFI typically invest in small to mid-sized companies with a market capital enterprise value between $20 million and $250 million and time to time, early stage Venture Capital style investments. Unlike other private equity firms that are sector focussed, CFI invests into firms from a functional perspective.

The funds invest into two core areas:

The funds invest in a variety of industry sectors including:

Releasing human capital and technology potential is at the heart of everything we do. Whether it’s identifying potential investments, growing our portfolio companies or realising their value at the right time, our strategy is geared to releasing true value. It is CFIs’ view that value creation through human capital increases productivity by up to 60 % and technology by 30 %, making any potential investment almost possible to double productivity and in turn value through these two aspects alone.

Throughout our history over the last 17 years since the raising of the first fund, the company has successfully invested across all investment stages and through complete economic cycles.

The firm’s current success is grounded in a culture that remains outward looking, pioneering and committed to growing businesses. The deep understanding of the markets operated within has been at the core of CFI’s strategy, giving it early access to investment opportunities and an ability to quickly add value to portfolio companies.

Building An Emerging Market Portfolio

As the businesses that CFI funds invest in become regional or global, it is our view that those private equity firms that are best able to add value and support them in human capital capability and technology to create productivity will flourish.

The firm currently has a global network of six offices in four continents and employs a number of industry veterans and experts, alongside long-standing trusted partners in various functional fields.

The portfolio companies in which our funds invest employ in excess of 26,000 people and generates a combined revenue in the billions.
